Taekwondo Belt Ceremony

They did it!
Today Lauren and Tyler were awarded their yellow belts at the Belt Ceremony.

Tyler, "Thank you, Sir!"

Lauren, "Thank you, Sir!"

Some happy Taekwondo-ers!

Way to go you two!
It took a lot of courage to go out of your comfort zone (lots of yelling out loud in class,) hard work and dedication.
So Proud!
(and trophies to boot!)

Taekwondo Belt Test

Lauren and Tyler are still loving Taekwondo.
Remember their TKD beginnings on the blog?
Here and Here

Their confidence has improved ten-fold and I've noticed it in other areas besides the martial arts.
(i.e. swim lessons and simply playing with friends)

Last weekend they had their first belt test.
Lauren and Tyler are both white belts and they did their best testing to become a yellow belt.
Check them out in the front row.

I'm pretty sure they have their yellow belts in the bag.
The Belt Ceremony is on Friday when they will find out for sure.

Since we are in between the Belt Testing and the Belt Ceremony, the lessons this week are more fun and playful.  L and T had a lot of fun today.

Stretching

Sparring

What a fun lesson to watch.
Enjoy it with me...

Summer at the Pool

How cool would it be to spend an entire summer vacation at the pool?!
We are doing our best to find out.

School got out on Friday (before Memorial Day) at 2:30 and by 4 o'clock we were at the pool.

Friday

We just couldn't stay away!
Saturday

Sunday

Sunday going home
Lauren and Tyler take up the back end of the Denali and our neighbor friends ride home in the back of the pick-up.

This classic vehicle was parked next to us at the pool.
Toyota truck with a roll bar and a car seat up front.  Gotta love it.

Monday (Memorial Day)
Daddy threw Tyler and Tera into the air and I obviously wanted to show off my feet again.
(Lauren opted NOT to be catapulted.)

Tuesday

If we aren't at the pool you will find us at a nearby body of water:
Swim Lessons at the Y...

or on the Slip and Slide at home.

However, you are most likely to find us at the pool!

How lucky are these kids to grow up in a neighborhood with a pool?!

Commercials

I thought my next post would be about our non-stop trips to the pool but the kiddos (Lauren, Tyler and Tera) were so creative today making fake commercials that I wanted to share immediately.

I'm pretty sure after I post this they will be discovered by Major Hollywood Types so I'd like to state (for the record) that I inspired their creativity by insisting they
Stop Playing Screen Time and Go Do Something Else.

Commercial Number One:

Tender Loving Care
The kiddos came up with a fictitious facility to send your sick and ailing.  Here is their commercial:

Send your loved ones at your own risk.  ;)

Commercial Number Two:

Play Fight: A Fake Wii Game
(which will not be found at Game Stop)

I love these kids and their creativity!
Don't tell them I posted their commercials on the blog because L and T insisted I only post the videos on my private YouTube and they went into more specifics, "Do not post ON THE BLOG."

Shhhh!!  I'm sure (surely hopeful) they'll forgive me in the future.

Last Day of School 2014!

May 23rd was the last day of school.
The last day of 2nd and 4th grade.

The obligatory side by side picture.

I have to take this picture in order to do the First and Last Day of School Comparisons.
They both have changed a bit this year.  Personally I think Lauren has changed the most.
Tyler obviously still prefers his his silky pants and silky shirts.

After school I snapped a picture of them getting off the bus.  I wish I would have gotten a picture with their bus driver because after 40 years! of driving a school bus she is retiring this year.  She was a sweetheart and she'll be hard to replace.

School is OUT!!
Time to celebrate the lazy days of Summer.
I think it's going to be a good one.
We've been spending a lot of time at the pool which I believe will be my next post.

Happy Summer Y'all!
