Halfway Point

Daddy is just a phone call away these days. While he's in Memphis, TN touring Graceland and in his spare time attending TAPPI and Bio-fuel conferences, the kids can still keep in touch via the nightly telephone call.

Lauren likes to let Tyler talk first.
She does this so she can talk the longest.
Big News this week: Lauren is "Cub of the Week." This is the highest honor in her Kindergarten classroom. She is in charge of changing the calendar, weather, hot lunch v. cold lunch lists and much more. She is the line-leader whenever the class leaves the classroom and she sets up the "CenterTime" stations and also gets first choice of station. She's loving it and is confidently doing a great job. (her teacher told me so.) Part of her responsibility is to fill out a poster all about her. Here she is diligently working on it.
Today was Tyler's weekly playgroup. We all decided to go to a local Chick-Fil-A to take advantage of "Toddler Time."
(from the CFA website: "Toddler Time is designed for kiddos ages 2 to 5. We would love to invite you to come relax, have lunch, and allow us to entertain the children for a while. This time will be spent with Bible stories, music, crafts, and fun.")
This was fun for everyone. Tyler, Becca and Sam all got to paint, make an instrument, sing songs and then play on the playground. All the while us Mom's got to sit back, relax and chat amongst ourselves without worrying about our little angels.
Tyler and Becca work on their watercolor masterpieces:
(Sam)antha joins in on the fun:

Next craft: Shaker Instruments (take a water bottle and insert beads, fuzzies and pipe cleaners)

After making their instruments the children went into the play area for some noisy songs followed by free play time.
Tyler was a bit slow to warm up but once the crafts started he was excitedly involved. He had so much fun that I ended up having to D-R-A-G him out of the restaurant.

Tonight Lauren finished up her weekly homework and also her Cub of the Week poster. (Normally she'd have another day to finish up but there is no school Friday (and also Monday.))
To close, here's a picture I took of Lauren today. I don't have a good caption to include...all I asked her to do was to give me her best smile. I don't really think this is it though.
Body of Lies is loading on my DVD player so I gotta go. It's a 2 hour movie and it's already after 8:30....aka....the movie will put me past my bedtime. G'night Y'all.
