Christine made me post...this is my first ever post! Matt
On my way to Beijing on a Delta 767 in business class, pretty comfy but nothing like the way home...
flew ATL to SEA to Beijing
The food was pretty good. The wine wasn't bad either...didn't sleep much
The hotel was very nice - the Marco Polo Parkside
The lobby was pretty fancy...
Here is pic entering my room...
Christine likes to see a bathroom pic...
Yes, there is a huge glass window between my bedroom and the bathroom.
There was a shade that could be lowered...
Pic out my hotel room window
The breakfast buffet was huge and pretty good. It was a mix of Chinese and western food
Christine would have been jealous of the sushi and I just thought I needed a pic of Chinese Diet Coke for some reason...
Time to see the sights...
Yes, the pollution and smog was terrible. These pics might not do it justice.
This is the Bird's Nest, aka the National Stadium built for the 2008 Olympics
Yes I was actually there...
Example of something lost in translation. If I'm not mistaken this should say Marlboro.
I should have bought the damn hat!
I felt sorry for this guy, but not until after I snapped a pic of his post crash trike on its side. He just lost his dang wheel while hauling ass down the street. I'm sorry for laughing dude!
The city was very modern and the infrastructure wasn't too bad, except every once in a while you would see something like this.
I had to take a pic of the various bikes and trikes. There are tons of these things, and from the crash pic above, they truly drive them into the ground. I bet some have 200,000 plus miles on them...
Dinner with our potential Chinese business partners.
This was full blown Chinese cuisine. I liked it, not sure about my coworkers.
Let me tell you, these guys never get tired of toasting, I drank my share of Chinese beer...
I can't believe that it's already time to go home. More evidence of something lost in translation.
No, this was not my seat. This is an example of first class on a new 777
This is my seat. Business class on a Korean Air 777. Aren't my boss's slippers cute?
Much more comfy than that old Delta 767 on the way over. This time we flew Beijing to Seoul, Korea, 8 hour lay over in a nice hotel near the airport (see below), and then Seoul direct to ATL...
about a 13 hour flight.
I slept much more and watched some movies, not bad...
And the food was great...I love me some Korean food!
It was a great trip, thanks to my awesome new employer, Weatherly. They don't know how much I appreciated the business class seats. You don't want to know how much those tickets cost! Christine held down the fort, I think she surprised herself...I hope she soon forgets that they survived without daddy for a week.
Bye bye, I'll post again in maybe 5 years...
Good job Matt! Glad you made it back safely.
